Charles Walter Wright of Potosi departed this life Sunday, August 10, 2003 at the Mineral Area Regional Medical Center, Farmington, having reached the age of 74 years, 6 months and 22 days. He was born January 19, 1929 at Annet, MO to the late James L. and Laura Ella (Bridgeman) Wright.
Charlie was united in marriage to Hattie LaChance on August 9, 1947 at Potosi and two children were born to this union. Hattie preceded him in death on February 4, 1997. He was later married to Freda Eye Pickett.
Mr. Wright retired from the Doe Run Company after working for many years in the Mill Maintenance Department. Charlie was also known for forming the "Charlie Wright & Gospel tones" musical group. He sang with them for 38 years. Charlie was also a member of the Belgrade Pentecostal Church of God.
In addition to his parents and first wife, he was preceded in death by brothers, Frank Wright and two sisters, Mary Wright and Virginia Timmerman.
Among those who remain to mourn his passing from this life are his loving and devoted wife Freda Wright of Potosi; a son James Harry Wright and wife Judy of Farmington; daughter, Beverly Skaggs of Farmington; stepson, Ralph Pickett and wife Elaine of Mineral Point; stepdaughter, Carolyn DeClue of Potosi; two sisters, Sylvia Missey of Berryman and Margie Wright of Potosi; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; six step grandchildren and eight step great-grandchildren; other family members and many dear friends who will also sadly miss him.
Funeral services were held at 2 P.M. Tuesday, August 12, 2003 in the Britton Chapel, Potosi, with Rev. Firman Gettinger officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Giles King, Keith Pickett, Butch Brewer, Don Lawson, Tim Wright and Jason Wright. Interment was in the New Masonic Cemetery, Potosi.
All arrangements were entrusted to the care of the Britton Funeral Home of Potosi.
