“It was three days before payday, and I got my period as I travelled to work on the train. I could not afford to buy a packet of pads, especially in the city, so I used rolled-up toilet paper all day and had to go to the bathroom every 40 minutes to change.”How can we still think menstrual equity is a women’s issue? How can we allow women to experience the humiliation and embarrassment of not having the products they need for something they’ve no control over? Something that’s part of being a woman. It’s an everyone issue. Menstrual health is not a perk; it’s a necessity. I keep coming back to the same thought: businesses spend so much money to ensure their staff are productive and happy. It’s time to start treating menstrual health as a key part of workplace wellness. The Bloody Big Survey’s insights make one thing clear: period poverty and menstrual equity are critical issues that demand urgent action.#bloodybigsurvey #dignityforall #workplacedignity #periodpoverty

This is outrageous. It devastates us so much that a nursing student had to face the indignity of period poverty not only while at university but while on placement at a hospital… THIS IS NOT OKAY! How is this happening in Australia?? "I experienced homelessness while doing unpaid nursing placements due to cost. Not only didn’t the university care but the hospitals I was working at didn’t have any available products. I found myself stealing gauze and using the hospital showers to wash out blood-stained underwear just to get by." Our Bloody Big Survey found 77% of university and TAFE students had experienced period poverty, and the number of students having to improvise on period products had increased by 6% since 2021. You can download the full report here - https://lnkd.in/g8dqvHYk This needs to change. While we work to advocate for change you can help uni and TAFE students right now by donating period products to our Dignity Drive this August - https://lnkd.in/eHF2YqRX

Today has been such an awesome day as I have spent it with so many incredible people who have come together to pack bags of hope for the women we support! My final meeting today is no different, as I had the wonderful opportunity to meet with Felix Oates and the fantastic team at Canva. They have been long-time supporters of Share the Dignity, regularly hosting bag packing events across their different offices. Each bag is filled with so much thought and care! ❤ This beautiful group of humans have supported Share the Dignity by contributing 800 It’s In The Bag Bags to date. We’re so grateful for Canva’s ongoing support in this wonderful campaign! #Collaboration #CommunitySupport #CanvaFoundation #MakingADifference #itsinthebag

Today is the day – The Bloody Big Survey is LIVE! There are not enough words to describe how I feel today. Was it easy? Nope.I’m sure if you ask Brittiny Edwards and my fabulous team members, we would all give the same answer. A big fat nope! Hand on heart, I work with the most incredible team. We come together like champions.Getting people to do surveys is like convincing a cat to take a bath –there’s hissing, squirming, and desperate attempts to flee. You end up soaked, scratched, and wondering why you ever thought it was a good idea.Everyone’s busy and thinks, “Who has time for this?” People are bombarded with surveys and start treating them like pop-up ads. If it’s not about them, they’re out. If they don’t know about it, they can’t do it. And then people wonder if their answers will matter or just vanish into a black hole. There were no prizes or rewards…just a sense of knowing you could make a difference. But we did it. Over 150,000 people shared their experiences with us… and we are SO grateful. Our Bloody Big Survey is a world first. There is no other dataset like it in the world. Every piece of information, every stat, and every story shared helps us bring about menstrual equity. It felt a bit like childbirth – we worked so hard, labour was intense, but now our baby is here, and wow, she’s beautiful.Seeing the devastating numbers about how many women and girls are going without breaks my heart. But on the flip side, it fuels my determination to ensure that the results from the next survey will not be so dire. I want Australia to lead the world in menstrual equality. When the numbers stalled after International Women’s Day, I decided to wear the Pad Dress for 30 days. Pad dresses aren’t designed for long term wear! The intense social media strategising paid off, and we reached a whopping 153K responses (thank you to every one of you). Preparing the data has been intense, with every page of the 66-page report crafted thoughtfully and with a call to action.I often feel like the Steven Bradbury of charity founders…my gold medal is precious data that will make people sit up, listen and do something. Just like his iconic underdog victory in the Olympics, our journey with the Bloody Big Survey and Share the Dignity has been filled with unexpected challenges and perseverance. Despite the hurdles, our determination and collective effort have led to data that will change Australia…the world…millions of lives.Within these numbers, I see the changes we need to make before we do this again in 2027. We will live in a country where workplaces provide period products, where period products and sanitary bins are accessible wherever sport is played, where every level of education includes access to period products, and where all hospitals have pads readily available. Can we do it? Yes, we can!.Check out the report here and today get period products into your workplace!https://lnkd.in/gXNZF4Nr
