𝐒𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐥𝐚𝐲𝐨𝐟𝐟𝐬. 𝐐𝐮𝐢𝐞𝐭 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠.They don’t always make the news. Sometimes, it’s a slow decline—lesser responsibilities, lower ratings, fewer calls. Until one day, your role just vanishes. My client Rahul (name changed), a senior Engineering leader in his early 40’s, was one of the many who had to confront this unsettling reality. After an illustrious career spanning two decades, he was blindsided when his role was cut.𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐫 𝐜𝐨𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐩𝐞𝐝 𝐡𝐢𝐦 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧:🚀 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐬𝐞𝐭 𝐑𝐞𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠: We worked on shifting his mindset, helping him see his worth beyond just a job title.💡 𝐑𝐞𝐟𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐈𝐧𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐫𝐲: Using the Ikigai framework, we uncovered Rahul’s true career calling—consulting.🔎 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐫 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠: We dug deep to find his hidden strengths and the traits that fueled his success.✴️𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐫 𝐕𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: We crafted a clear value proposition that highlighted his unique strengths, accomplishments, and career preferences, serving as his ‘elevator pitch.’🔄 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐍𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞:Rahul learned to speak confidently about his exit, turning a story of loss into one of reinvention.✨𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐁𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠: We defined his unique brand identity and ensured his resume, LinkedIn profile, and other branding documents reflected this new brand.🌐𝐍𝐞𝐭𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠: We tackled his deep-seated blocks around networking. Role-playing exercises gave him the confidence to navigate these conversations with ease.🎯 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰 𝐌𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐲: Intense mock interviews helped him perfect structured responses, handle real-time scenarios, and negotiate salaries effectively.🌈𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐮𝐥𝐭? After 4 months, Rahul is finally living his dream career in a Engineering Consulting firm. What’s more, he continues to seek ways to reinvent himself at the new job, build his personal brand, and future-proof his career, applying the lessons learned from his career transition.✍️𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐲?The silent layoff may be a whisper, but your comeback can be a roar. I received the most heartwarming testimonial from an executive client earlier this week, and it's moments like these that remind me why I love what I do. As coaches, we never truly know the impact we create, but seeing the transformation and growth in our clients is the greatest reward. Moreover, it reinforces the profound impact that occurs when clients are receptive and open to the possibilities that coaching offers. 🙏 #CoachingImpact #ClientTestimonial #Executivecoaching

𝐓𝐡𝐞 5 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐫 𝐌𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐬 𝐈 𝐦𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐝𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐦𝐲 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐫Here are the 5 career mistakes I made in my early years, and the invaluable lessons they taught me:1.𝐈𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 🚀I failed to prioritize learning outside of my immediate job requirements or relied on my manager to nominate me for training programs🌱𝐋𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐝: Continuous learning is non-negotiable. Whether it's acquiring new skills, pursuing certifications, or seeking mentorship, invest in yourself—it's the best investment you can make.2.𝐓𝐡𝐞 '𝐓𝐢𝐚𝐫𝐚 𝐬𝐲𝐧𝐝𝐫𝐨𝐦𝐞' 👑Coined by Sheryl Sandberg, this term refers to the tendency of women in particular to hesitate to speak up for themselves and assume that their efforts alone will lead to advancement.🌱𝐋𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐝: I learned the hard way that visibility and perception can sometimes outweigh even performance. 3. 𝐍𝐞𝐠𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐍𝐞𝐭𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 🤝Early on, I underestimated the power of networking. I focused solely on excelling in my role rather than building relationships outside of my immediate circle. Ialways cited ‘busyness’ as an excuse for not leveraging the power of Linkedin and that stays as a deep regret.🌱𝐋𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐝: Invest time in building authentic connections and nurturing relationships —it can open doors you never imagined. More importantly, networking isn't just about what you can gain—it's about what you can offer and contribute to others as well. 4. 𝐌𝐲𝐭𝐡:'𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐚𝐫’ 📶In my first decade, I always envisioned my career as a succession of promotions culminating in vertical advancement. 🌱𝐋𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐝: Your career path may not always follow a linear trajectory, and that's okay. Be open to exploring and seizing different opportunities and take calculated risks as this can lead to new/unexpected career paths that can bring you deeper satisfaction and success. 5.𝐁𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐦𝐲 𝐉𝐨𝐛 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐦𝐲 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐫 🚨For years, I fell into the trap of believing that my job title defined the entirety of my career. I poured all my energy, time, and identity into the tasks assigned to me, viewing each role as the ultimate destination rather than seeking my larger purpose and passion in life.🌱𝐋𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐝: True fulfilment comes from aligning your work with your passions, skills, and aspirations. Start by taking ownership of your career because in the end we have no one to blame and no one to change but Ourselves. Reflecting on these mistakes, I'm grateful for the growth they've spurred and the wisdom they've imparted. 𝐏.𝐒The below photo was captured at my first organization, Thermax Limited, which remains close to my heart. My 4.5 years there were invaluable, teaching me that human-centred organisations always accelerate business performance.

𝐔𝐧𝐜𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐮𝐫𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐞 : 𝐂𝐨𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬In a recent coaching conversation with a client, a mid-career professional in his late 30s with a steady record of smart career moves, he popped the question: "𝘐 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘥 𝘮𝘺 𝘱𝘶𝘳𝘱𝘰𝘴𝘦 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘐 𝘥𝘰𝘯’𝘵 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘣𝘦𝘨𝘪𝘯?”This feeling is not unique. Many mid-career professionals grapple with a shared challenge – Finding Purpose 🌟. From wanting their careers to be an extension of their authentic selves to searching for their professional North Star, more professionals have begun the quest to discover their Purpose and true calling that goes beyond a fancy designation or an impressive paycheck. However, some misconceptions surround this. Let's break down some of them here: 𝐌𝐲𝐭𝐡 1: 𝐏𝐮𝐫𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐄𝐱𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐞 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐅𝐚𝐜𝐭: Purpose transcends external circ*mstances and emerges from a profound inner alignment with yourself, your true passions and inherent strengths. Purpose is uncovered from the inside out, not the other way around. 𝐌𝐲𝐭𝐡 2: 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐒𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐇𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐈𝐭 𝐀𝐥𝐥 𝐅𝐢𝐠𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐎𝐮𝐭 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐅𝐚𝐜𝐭: Your Career purpose can develop and evolve through experience, stretch assignments, new exposure, upskilling and self-discovery. Many people explore non-traditional paths and discover their purpose at various life stages. Trust your journey and stay patient in the process. 𝐌𝐲𝐭𝐡 3 : 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐫 𝐒𝐮𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐬 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐫 𝐏𝐮𝐫𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐞𝐅𝐚𝐜𝐭: Purpose isn't merely a byproduct of career growth or achievements. If your 'why' doesn't align with your 'what,' true purpose remains elusive, regardless of external success.𝐌𝐲𝐭𝐡 4 : 𝐏𝐮𝐫𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐅𝐚𝐜𝐭: As individuals grow and evolve, their priorities, values, and perspectives may change, leading to a re-evaluation of their purpose. What inspired you yesterday might not tomorrow!𝐏𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐏𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫•𝘋𝘰𝘦𝘴 𝘮𝘺 𝘤𝘶𝘳𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘫𝘰𝘣 𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘮𝘺 𝘱𝘢𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴, 𝘷𝘢𝘭𝘶𝘦𝘴, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘪𝘯𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘨𝘵𝘩𝘴?•𝘋𝘰 𝘐 𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘨𝘦𝘯𝘶𝘪𝘯𝘦 𝘮𝘦𝘢𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘴𝘪𝘨𝘯𝘪𝘧𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘮𝘺 𝘥𝘢𝘪𝘭𝘺 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬?•𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘢𝘥𝘥𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴 (𝘰𝘳 𝘥𝘦𝘭𝘦𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴) 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘐 𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘣𝘶𝘪𝘭𝘥 𝘢 𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘱𝘶𝘳𝘱𝘰𝘴𝘦𝘧𝘶𝘭 𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘳? ************************************As someone who has transitioned a career from Human Resources to Coaching, I can tell you that the process of uncovering your purpose can be both challenging and rewarding at the same time. 🌟 𝐁𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐌𝐨𝐥𝐝: 𝐂𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐪𝐮𝐞 𝐂𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐉𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐲! 🌈Thrilled to share a moment of personal triumph with you all—I've just earned my Professional Certified Coach (PCC) certification from the International Coaching Federation, and the journey has been nothing short of extraordinary! 🎓🌍 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐔𝐧𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐏𝐚𝐭𝐡After accumulating 2 years of coaching experience, I chose to deviate from the conventional ACC path (Level 1) and challenged myself to push towards a more ambitious goal- PCC (Level 2)! It was a courageous decision and I feel proud of choosing a non-traditional route. 🧠 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐬:What started as a goal on my Vision Board soon translated into rigorous practice coaching sessions, dedicated study time, mentor coaching sessions and collaboration with my peers along side my regular coaching practice. The PCC certification is not just a professional milestone but a symbol of commitment to the art and science of coaching at an advanced level.💡 𝐊𝐞𝐲 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 𝐀𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐖𝐚𝐲:The last one year has been a journey of self-discovery and re-finding myself with a fair share of ‘sandpaper moments’ that have sculpted me into a better coach. The biggest lessons reinforced were the ability to stay focused and consistent, constantly unlearn and re-learn and adaptive resilience to manoeuvre the twists and turns.🙏 𝐆𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭:This journey has been nothing short of transformative, and I am profoundly grateful for the support, mentorship, and encouragement I've received along the way. A special thanks to my mentors at Coacharya Cindy Muthukarapan MCC, ACTC and Smita R whose honest insights and inputs have helped me sharpen, elevate and evolve my coaching style and my clients (you know who you are) who have trusted me on their journeys and who underpin the essence of coaching. 🚀 𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬:The PCC certification is not just a badge for my LinkedIn profile or a certificate to hang on my wall. For me, it's a reminder that real success is about staying true to your path and blazing your trail even when it can be more winding and not similar to the well-worn path others have taken. 🌈 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭'𝐬 𝐍𝐞𝐱𝐭?As I step into this new chapter armed with enhanced skills and a broader perspective, I am genuinely excited about the opportunities to contribute more significantly to the world of coaching and creating career transformations for my clients.
